VENOM INC. discuss writing process in second video trailer!

Reincarnated forefathers of black metal, VENOM INC., will unleash their upcoming full-length opus, Avé, out August 11, 2017 via Nuclear Blast. Last week, the band revealed the first instalment in a new one-on-one video interview series discussing exclusive, behind-the-scenes details about Avé and the return of VENOM INC.:
Today, fans can view part two - specifically detailing the writing process on Avé.

Watch here:
More on Avé:

Pre-order Avé now:

Regardless of your take on black metal forefathers VENOM, they are the undisputed originators of extreme metal as we know it. Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989-1992 line-up of guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn, vocalist/bassist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan and drummer Anthony "Abaddon" Bray have returned with a monster of an album.

VENOM INC. was born during an impromptu live set at 2015's Keep it True Festival in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany. The on-stage reunion was a rousing success amongst VENOM fans and music industry personnel alike, and although it was originally only set up for fun, Dolan began receiving numerous show offers for VENOMINC. from booking agents around the world. What started as a live set to celebrate VENOM's legacy immediately turned into a serious reunion discussion. The rest is history.

Going in to writing Avé, VENOM INC. realized their live performance was the key to creating an album that would be a metal classic. It was clear that any songs the trio came up with had to have the intensity, the honesty and the aggression that was happening for VENOM INC. in a live situation. Simply put, they needed to translate what they do on stage onto a record. Not once did they look back on the VENOM catalogue and think, "We have to write another 'Black Metal' or another 'Schizo'…" The focus is on VENOM INC. and everything the rejuvenated three-piece do in the here and now.

While unexpected at the outset, the end result of this reunion is an album that true VENOM fans will gladly add to the top of their playlists.

KORPIKLAANI To release first ever live package in August; pre-orders available!

One does not simply stop Korpiklaani. For the first time ever, the Finns have captured and immortalised the power of their live performance on their first ever live Blu-ray/DVD+2CD package titled ‘Live at Masters of Rock’. Due to be released on August 25th, 2017 through Nuclear Blast. After hearing its title, it's easy to conclude that the performance was recorded at the identically named festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic. But there's even more to be excited about, this release doesn't just include Korpiklaani's show from 2016, it even houses a second full show from 2014 as a bonus feature. The 2016 concert features guest appearances from Tero Hyväluoma (additional fiddler) as well as Toni Perttula (additional accordion player), Sami's identical twin brother. The mixing and mastering of ‘Live at Masters of Rock’ were handled by front man Jonne Järvelä.

Jonne comments,
"This our first ever DVD release, and we are quite proud of it. It has no backing tracks, no choirs, no samples, all the mistakes are included. It is just us, Korpiklaani, pure live rock 'n' roll…
I spent a lot of time during the mastering process with Svante Forsbäck who recently handled the Rammestein mastering and we worked very hard to get the right ambience and crowd sound. So when you turn it up loud, it feels like you are right there in the thick of it."

As a first taster, a live clip of 'Pilli on pajusta tehty' has been launched today. Check it out, here:

"We're really excited to release the second song from our upcoming new record Anticult - 'Earth Scar!' I have always drawn influence from all spectrums of metal and this song and our new record really reflect those influences.

"Much like 'Never,' this song has been designed to crush on a stage and we can't wait to add it to our set. Rasta wrote the lyrics with a lot of metaphorical content dealing with touring. The opposing lifestyles from the 'normal,' day-to-day of being at home vs. being on the road and seeing our 'tribe' interacting with the music and the almost restorative qualities of that! We hope you all enjoy it and we can’t wait to see you all very soon!" - Vogg

Ahead of the release, the band premiered the throttling new song 'Never'. Watch and listen, here:

THE PICTUREBOOKS announce Home is a Heartache Tour 2017

Primal blues-rock duo THE PICTUREBOOKS will perform their blues-saturated heavy rock on the "Home Is A Heartache Tour 2017".

"We are so excited about our own headlining European-tour this year. It’s always fun supporting other bands like "Monster Truck", "Kadavar", "The Answer", "Les Butcherettes" etc, but going out and headlining ourselves makes it so much more exciting. We can´t wait to meet the many friends we made along the way and to make new ones as we go!" says Fynn Claus Grabke, Singer and Guitarist of THE PICTUREBOOKS.

The German duo , also featuring Philipp Mirtschink on drums, performs enticing blues-saturated heavy rock, with Fynn playing on obscure vintage guitars he bought from thrift shops around the world, while Philipp beats a drum set that consists of the largest possible drums that he hits with heavy duty felt beaters. The set has no cymbals whatsoever and instead includes a few self-made percussion instruments with huge chains, bells, and more.

Home is a Heartache serves as the band's sophomore release and Another Century label-debut. The 14-track album was recorded in the band's garage, where they regularly refurbish and repair motorcycles and choppers. The album captures a raw, rich, and real energy evoking the room's natural reverb, industrial aura, and spiritual spark. Home is a Heartache is available now everywhere:

THE CHARM THE FURY release new lyric video for 'Weaponized'

Amsterdam based metal band THE CHARM THE FURY have released the new lyric video for their song 'Weaponized'. The song comes off of their recently released album, The Sick, Dumb & Happy.

The band commented: "Love is one of those things songwriters and global media conglomerates just can’t get enough of. You can’t listen to the radio without being bombarded with sappy love songs. You can’t pick up a magazine or watch TV without being barraged with advertisements promising you to become more attractive, better looking, smelling better than anyone else. In short: something the opposite sex simply can’t resist.

What’s often overlooked is that ‘love’ in the modern age has become an industry, designed in boardrooms, by people looking to push a product or image on you. A tool designed to keep consumers in check. And those that do not fit the norm end up feeling left out and misplaced. Victims of an industry.”

THE CHARM THE FURY have matured since their debut. With several of Europe's biggest festivals under their belt, they have transformed their sound into a startling slab of ultra-modern but utterly distinctive metal that shrewdly and honestly redefines what THE CHARM THE FURY is all about. Driven by a collective distaste for the state of the world in the 21st century, the band recorded an angry album underpinned by ferocious intelligence and a heartfelt desire to wake people out of their digital stupors.

With more details about the band’s new album, The Sick, Dumb & Happy, to come, the critical moment has arrived: THE CHARM THE FURY are armed, ready and hungry for the next big push. When it explodes in 2017, the smart money is on these die-hard noisemakers claiming their rightful place among the new metal elite. They have the songs, the determination and the charisma to make it happen.

ACCEPT 'The Rise Of Chaos' official video

Accept's 4th studio album to be released through Nuclear Blast, The Rise Of Chaos, will be in stores on August 4th. In anticipation of their new offering, the band have just premiered the official music video for the title track. Shot in Nashville's famous rehearsal centre Soundcheck, the video consists of 81,127 still images that were later transformed into video sequences.
Watch 'The Rise Of Chaos':

The video was directed, produced and edited by Scott Diussa, who also took the photos alongside Theodore Miesner (lighting and editor too) and Brad Moore. The team used a combination of four Nikon D5 cameras and 14-24mm 2.8, 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8, 105mm 1.4, 58mm 1.4 lenses.

Limited Mail Order Edition, Framed Gold Disc, Splatter Vinyl, Green Vinyl:

The Rise Of Chaos track list:
01. Die By The Sword
02. Hole In The Head
03. The Rise Of Chaos
04. Koolaid
05. No Regrets
06. Analog Man
07. What’s Done Is Done
08. Worlds Colliding
09. Carry The Weight
10. Race To Extinction

"The Rise Of Chaos is something I have been thinking about often. Wherever we go - there is some hidden as well as some visible destruction and it kind of changes the world we know. What was there today - can be gone tomorrow and it's somehow irritating, because it happens on so many levels and no one knows what comes next. The cover portrays our last stage set-up - but now clearly "destroyed" - like… after a catastrophe", explains Wolf Hoffmann.

The cover artwork of the new record was created by the Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák.

ACCEPT will celebrate the album's live premiere exclusively on August 3rd, on the day before its release, as a part of a special show at Wacken Open Air, Germany. The set will consist of three parts, which represent the band's creative power:

Part 1 will bring fans a classic ACCEPT set, packed with new and old hits. Whilst part 2 will present another premiere: Wolf Hoffmann will be playing tracks from his solo album Headbangers Symphony with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for the very first time. The finale and part 3 will see ACCEPT sharing the stage with the orchestra and supported by a complex multimedia show.

This unique concert experience will take place on this year's Night To Remember which makes it even more special. The Night To Remember is a celebrated, long-lasting Wacken tradition and allows for a selection of established bands to perform something unique and special for their fans.

Wolf Hoffmann stated: "It's always impressive to see how bands take this evening seriously and how much love the artists and the organising team put into their work to get a varied result. It's a great tradition which underlines and documents the top-notch level of the international rock community like nothing else. We also want to present something that ACCEPT has never done before, we hope we can give something really special to the fans."

BMG to publish new book, 'For the Sake of Heaviness: the History of Metal Blade Records'

Metal Blade Records and BMG are proud to announce the upcoming release of 'For the Sake of Heaviness: the History of Metal Blade Records' on August 29th. Written by label founder and CEO Brian Slagel with Mark Eglinton, the book features a foreword by Metallica's Lars Ulrich and celebrates the storied label's 35th anniversary.

Slagel comments: "I have been asked many times about doing a book about the history of Metal Blade and it just seemed like a cool thing to do to document the 35th anniversary. You never really stop to think about a lot of this stuff, so doing the book is a great way of looking back at how many awesome things have happened to me and Metal Blade. We have had a long relationship with BMG and with their new move in book publishing, it all seemed like perfect timing. Being able to work with their team really made the final decision to actually do the book. I am really happy with the way it came out and I hope everyone out there enjoys it as well!"

'For the Sake of Heaviness' is an inside look at how Slagel built Metal Blade from a one-man operation in his mom's non-air-conditioned garage to the preeminent international home of heavy music that it is today. The book recounts the early beginning of a metal-obsessed Southern California kid who launched a fanzine and landed a record store job, before cobbling together what he assumed would be a one-off compilation of fledgling bands from the L.A. scene. Released in 1982, the Metal Massacre LP included the debut recordings of local groups such as Steeler,Malice, Ratt, and Metallica.

'For the Sake of Heaviness' pulls back the curtain to reveal the definitive look at how Metal Blade began, what they've accomplished, and where they're going. Slagel reveals the early advice he gave that helped guide Motley Crue's career; how he helped Metallica replace their bassist - twice; his detailed work on Thin Lizzy and Alice Cooper re-issues; his behind-the-scenes role in the careers of Slayer, GWAR, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, Faith No More, Goo Goo Dolls, and Lamb of God; and his unlikely ventures with kindred metal heads - from hockey star Ken Baumgartner, to celebrity chef Chris Santos, to The Howard Stern Show's Richard Christy, to comedians Jim Florentine, Don Jamieson and Jim Breuer.

Joe Bonamassa `Live at Carnegie Hall’ DVD Review

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? That is a question that’s been on the lips of many a musician. It’s a historic venue in the heart of Manhattan, and a venue that has held some absolute memorable moments not just in music history but also it includes Suffragette speeches in 1908, through to the premiere of Charlie Chaplin’s film `The Kid’ in 1921 and The Beatles in 1964.

For Joe Bonamassa, his already extensive list of played venues is as long as it is illustrious, yet one venue that eluded him was Carnegie Hall. The bonus content on this DVD, Joe explains that from boyhood dream Carnegie Hall was the last one on his bucket list and precisely why it wasn’t his usual foray with electric instruments.

To the main feature, the way the stage is set up and presence of the band is almost homely like Joe’s playing in your living room or at the end of the most picturesque pub nestled somewhere a village of equal beauty straight away Joe invites you in.

The inclusion of such an outstanding group of individuals is quite astonishing, although that’s not saying due to their quality but the fact Joe can transpose what would be a rip roaring electric blues set to an acoustic one and have many elements of world music is a huge credit to each individual member bringing in their stamp on this illustrious evening.

Before we mention particular songs, draw your attention to the guitars on stage, mostly Gibson’s and most being at least 100 years old or there around, so in the grand scheme of things the blues should be played on these old beauties something that I’m sure the likes of Robert Johnson would have only dreamed of.

Opening the show with `This Train` it’s a very upbeat rendition of the electric driven piece, although the crowd haven’t started bouncing on their chairs, it’s definitely the right track and right mood to get them ready for an hour and half of a musical extravaganza.

Although on `Drive`, Joe and company bring that ecstatic feeling down to earth with the adding a far more sombre tone that blues music does replicate, although some may assume that the blues can be all like `Drive` yet the Blues is very expressive and these two songs are perfect examples of that.

One aspect of `Live at Carnegie Hall’ and one that’s very much part of Joe’s sound is the use of world instruments and on this occasion Joe’s band consists of Egyptian, Australian, of course American and Chinese members, each adding in an extra ingredient to serve the song.

Joe is relentless with releases, with some who churn out so many albums so quickly, it can become tiresome yet with Joe his unique vision 99% of the time will result in watching something or listening to an album that’s pretty darn special. He won’t just put out a live album of `Live at?’ if it doesn’t have any resonance with himself or his audience. Definitely with `Live at Carnegie Hall’, you get that sense of true accomplishment that he’s doing something he loves and wants you to come along for the ride.

9/10- Joe’s last venue on his bucket list, warm and inviting, its Joe B to a T.

Decapitated `Anticult’ Review

Death Metal is a worldwide entity; it ranges from the US through to Sweden, all across Europe and as far into the Middle East.

As the world got smaller, Death Metal spread and Poland has really became a powerhouse of the scene, along with Behemoth and Vader, Decapitated are very much one of the horsemen of the scene. Formed in 96, they’ve gone through quite something, a tragic car accident in 2007 that claimed the life of a founding member. It’s was certainly a tribute that the band was reformed in 2011.

`Anticult` is Decapitated 3rd album in 6 years, it opens with `Impulse’ and above all, this is a perfect indicator of `Anticult` overall resonance, its extreme metal with so much more added to the witches brew. With cleaner guitar parts to set the mood, the track then opens up with a heavy groovy riff that’s akin to Meshuggah with its downright precise intensity. At just over 6 minutes this track personifies just how Decapitated can take elements from other spheres in metal and apply it to extreme metal and not just make it 6 minutes of pure blast beats.

Song 2 is `Deathvaluation’ and it carries on from its predecessor in it’s particularly groove mentality, especially within the guitar solo. It’s fast, there’s a hell of a lot of widdley in there but more importantly ultimately it’s very memorable and certainly one that people will try, although expect some bleeding fingers to attempt it note for note. It appears that Decapitated has an adage of thrash into their niche and with this solo they pay homage to their heroes of Exodus or Testament, melodic, aggressive but certainly memorable is the order of the day for Decapitated on `Deathvaluation’

The two singles `Earth Scar’ and `Never’ are much later on in the album structure, yet listening to them and how they are laid out and within the record ultimately you really get a superb taster of the rest of the songs on the 8 track extreme opus, clinically aggressive, fast and with a heap of atmosphere.

One aspect of listening to an album is the way in which it flows. Now in this day and age, an album is merely a collection of singles readymade for a quick listen or as part of a shuffle playlist, so listening through `Anticult’ from start to finish it flows well, each track seamlessly into its successor and doesn’t feel disjointed or any point like they just slapped a song where they felt like. Honestly, it feels like they took the time to really set this up, strange to think that an extreme metal album could be a harmonious affair.

If you love extreme metal with added thought, flow, groove, speed and intensity then ultimately this should be your new favourite album. Poland seems to be churning out some real blasting extreme metal and `Decapitated’ are certainly at the forefront with `Anticult’.

9.5/10- The complete extreme metal album, flowing, aggressive

Stand out tracks:
`Never`, `Impulse’ and `Deathvaluation`

Track Listing:
1. Impulse
2. Deathvaluation
3. Kill The Cult
4. One Eyed Nation
5. Anger Line
6. Earth Scar
7. Never
8. Amen
