KADAVAR | Official video for 'Last Living Dinosaur' premieres online

German rock trio KADAVAR are set to release their new album Berlin on August 21st. In anticipation of the new album, the band have premiered the official video for new track 'Last Living Dinosaur'.
Watch the video over on YouTube:

The Berlin track list racks up as follows:
01. Lord Of The Sky
02. Last Living Dinosaur
03. Thousand Miles Away From Home
04. Filthy Illusion
05. Pale Blue Eyes
06. Stolen Dreams
07. The Old Man
08. Spanish Wild Rose
09. See The World With Your Own Eyes
10. Circles In My Mind
11. Into The Night
12. Reich der Träume (Nico cover)

Drummer Tiger commented: "About ten years ago, when we - independently of one another - moved to Berlin, we just wanted to break free from home and do something new. I thought it was comfortable, to blend in and just live from day to day. A lot of very long nights and so many completely different people at one place. Where there are opposites you can always ground yourself. We’re all different, come from different places but have managed to create something together we all like. I think the Berlin lifestyle has influenced our band very much and therefore fits perfectly as the album’s title."

FOR TODAY sign with Nuclear Blast

For Today are pleased to announce they have signed a brand new record deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The label will release the incendiary metal band's next album internationally. More details on the album and the band's autumn plans will be revealed shortly.

For now both band and label are celebrating their new partnership!

Markus Staiger, owner of Nuclear Blast said of the signing;
"I am very happy to work with one of my absolute favourite American bands, For Today. This band is unique in their mission, style and message. They have delivered a killer album and it is such an amazing opportunity to sign For Today to Nuclear Blast during this time,"

Even in the face of seemingly impossible odds, there’s always a way to muster enough strength to soldier on and cross the finish line victoriously. That goes for all facets of life and if you’re willing to disregard the naysayers, forget the doubters, and defy the odds, you can accomplish anything. The story of Sioux City, IA hardcore and metal outfit For Today remains one of triumph and everything about their rise has been special. Emerging in an era where pop culture is dominated by vacuous personalities with little of substance to convey, when ‘scene’ bands often concern themselves more with clever marketing strategies than the urgent issues of our times, For Today stand decidedly apart.

For Today were founded in 2005, releasing their first studio album ‘Ekklesia’ in 2008. They have now released five studio albums to date and are currently working on their sixth endeavour.
Their success has come down to the quintet’s constant perseverance and doing things in a D.I.Y fashion – playing music for the sake of playing music and pursuing their dreams in spite of all challenges. For Today have built up an overwhelmingly supportive following around the world with skills honed on the Vans Warped Tour and on countless tours across five continents alongside contemporaries such as Asking Alexandria, Devil Wears Prada, Texas In July and Throwdown.

Vocalist Bjorn 'Speed' Strid discusses the meaning behind the track: “'The Ride Majestic' was one of the first songs we wrote for this album. The intro sets a certain melancholic mood and after that it's all pure melodic mayhem. There’s a very epic and anthemic feel to it, which suits the album title perfectly. The lyrics deal with the fear of dying and the art of remaining sane while you're still alive. Not wanting to miss a thing, wanting to embrace every moment, and being able to bring it all back on your dying day, with a snap of your fingers. It's also a tribute to the ones we've lost and the comfort of hoping that they will catch us when we fall, on the other side. We believe that, if there is an afterlife, this song would be the soundtrack to that journey. It deals with the acceptance of life and death and possibly everything between and beyond.”

Having recently stormed Download with a secret set backed with a crowd of barbarians (and a 30 row strong crowd outside the tent!) The Darkness unleash a new single on 21st August. ‘Last of Our Kind’ is the title track of their recent 4th album which entered the UK charts at No. 12 on its release in June. The song has been described as 'part Van Halen, part Waterboys, ALL The Darkness'. It features a record-smashing choir of several thousand Darkness enthusiasts (The Darkness Army) who each contributed their individual performances using the Internet service. The single, described by one reviewer as “(the track’s) effortlessly catchy hooks and righteous leads deliver pure rock perfection”, is a stomping rocker which demands hands be thrown in the air (when not playing air guitar on the excellent solo).

For the video the band decided to go back to the fans and 15 were chosen to come to the video shoot and asked to get ‘freaky on camera’. The result is a very entertaining film which shows The Darkness’ audience are as wonderful as the band. Singer Justin Hawkins explained “Where would we be without our fans? Well, we wouldn't have a video for a start. Or at least, we wouldn't have a video with quite so many brilliant people in it. I'm so proud of them, they never disappoint us”

Watch the video here:

The album ‘Last of Our Kind’ has received some of the best reviews of the bands career to date with Classic Rock proclaiming it “A glorious return to form for the flamboyant rockers … they’ve only gone and made their finest album since Permission To Land” whilst Total Guitar said “Their very British blend of battle rock and classy ballads still hits the spot.”

The band have also announced a UK tour for November/December where they will entertain and astonish fans all over the country with their marvelous tunes and killer riffs. A few UK festival spots will also warm them up nicely.

Joe Satriani launches official "Shockwave Supernova" music video

Legendary guitarist, JOE SATRIANI, released his 15th solo studio album, “SHOCKWAVE SUPERNOVA”, on Friday 24th July, making him one of the first to utilise the new “Friday, Global Release Day” for music.

It would be easy to call Shockwave Supernova a “masterpiece” or “the last word on guitar” from the world’s most commercially successful solo guitar performer. Satch, however, sees it much more personally. He has consistently advanced the artistry of the instrument; an effort he dedicated himself to on 18th September, 1970, the day his idol Jimi Hendrix died.

Recorded late last year at Skywalker Sound in Lucas Valley, California, Satriani assembled the dynamic trio of world-class musicians who had recently been part of his global tour; renowned keyboardist and guitarist Mike Keneally, a veteran of several Satch outings and recordings; along with drumming whiz Marco Minnemann and bass extraordinaire Bryan Beller. “I couldn’t have asked for a better band to help bring these songs to life,” says Satriani.

The album also sees Satriani once again joining forces co-producer and engineer John Cuniberti. Satch and Cuniberti share production on Shockwave Supernova, as they have on numerous albums – their shared history dates back to the guitar star’s 1986 debut album, Not Of This Earth and its follow-up, the platinum-selling, critically acclaimed, Surfing with the Alien.

The album has released on CD, download and 2 LP vinyl. Satriani’s World Tour begins 17th September in Europe (US Tour planned early 2016). The UK leg of the European tour starts November 1st at the O2 Apollo Manchester with special guest Dan Patlansky.

About Ghost:
Ghost released their second album Infestissumam on April 16th, 2013 via Spinefarm Records/Loma Vista Recordings. The 10-song offering was produced by Grammy® Award-winning producer, Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains) in Nashville, TN, and debuted at #1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart. SPIN called the album, "one of the most anticipated heavy metal albums of 2013”, and Pitchfork praised its “addictive as sin” hooks. Rolling Stone described their sound as “somewhere between Mastodon and Metallica, with a heavy dose of Swedish synth mixed in”. In November of 2013, the band released If You Have Ghost, a five-track EP recorded and produced by Dave Grohl, including cover versions of songs by Roky Erickson, ABBA, Army of Lovers, and Depeche Mode. Ghost have toured the U.S. extensively and appeared at various music festivals across the country, including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Rock on the Range.

Ghost `Meliora` Review

If you have Ghost, you have everything. So for those of you who don’t have Ghost, then quite frankly where the fuck have you been hiding, Ghost’s inauguration in 2010 took the metal world by storm with guys like Metallica’s James Hetfield being one of many musicians who joined the clergy and proclaimed Ghost as the next best thing since Satan himself reached his hand out to rock n roll. Still in recent times, the idea of a novelty band seems to have reached critical mass but Ghost has bypassed that and 3 albums later they are gunning for glory and `Meliora’ could be the bands most successful effort yet.

`Meliora’ contains 10 tracks from Satan’s clergy and if you liked what they did before on `Opus Eponymous’ and `Infestissumam’ then you’ll enjoy this from your pinnacle to your pit, see what I did there.

From the get go on the album opener `Spirit’, you are treated to an amalgamation of hard rock and pop sensibilities, catchy hooks are the order of the day and you’ll certainly be humming more than one track back by the end.

Ghost were described by one its members as Black Metal, although their music doesn’t fit into what we know to be Black Metal but listening to the occult and satanic themes in it’s lyrics it’s easy to see that songs on `Meliora’ like `From The Pinnacle To The Pit’ to `Devil Church’ the band oozes satanic imagery in its lyrical content and through Papa Emeritus eerie but soaring vocals it fits perfectly.

Meliora is extremely atmospheric and if you’ve been witness to one of their live shows this will fit like a glove into their already demonically burgeoning set list. You can tell where the band takes their influences, listening to `Cirice’ or perhaps `He Is’, it’s certainly not traditional metal but is likely to be the logical successor to Black Sabbath mixed with prog of the 60’s and 70’s in particular King Crimson or the pop sensibility of ABBA dare I say.

Meliora is Ghost through and through, mixing together all that we have come to know and love from the Nameless Ghouls and their demonic anti-pope Papa Emeritus. With soaring melodies and vocals to match, this album sits perfectly in between classic rock, metal and prog. This is classic Ghost.

9/10- Ghost on fire, taking you on a journey from the pinnacle to the pit.

Ramblin Man Fair Review

A couple of year’s back, the classic rock extravaganza name High Voltage Festival seemed to pop up and then vanish after a few short lived years. All of a sudden a new classic rock festival pops up, entitled `Ramblin Man Fair’ and situated in the picturesque Mote Park in Maidstone, Kent. Headlined by `Scorpions’ and `Gregg Allman’ its inaugural year, you know it’s already out to mean business.

Approaching the stage to what last night was the scene that even Noah would have built his ark in preparation, but as of opening the festival is array with sunshine and a building crowd emerging from whatever hole from whence they came for a day of quality classic rock.

Toseland (6) are a quintessential modern rock band, full of bounce and swagger and a fun way to get your tastes salivating, did you know that their lead singer is also the World Superbike champion James Toseland? Pretty cool, really.

Having the choice of a tonne of acts over 3 stages at festivals, it’s definitely a good idea to run over to check out what’s on offer and the Prog stage with its sparkling banners shows off a medley of overblown keyboard solos with an audience clapping in whatever crazy time signature they derive and Hemel Hempstead’s own `Touchstone’ (6) personifies that with their version of `Mad World’ with added keyboard solo.

Back to the main stage for `Blue Oyster Cult’ (7), who without doubt set the first standard for a sing-along moment of the festival with the classic `Don’t Fear The Reaper’ with the audience bellowing back as loud as the PA, proving that even since 1967 when the band first formed they are still as strong today.

Up next NWOBHM stalwarts `Saxon’ (8) gave the festival a metallic edge, rocking the Maidstone night air with Metal tunage `Denim and Leather’ and `Wheels Of Steel’ before laying the ground for American Prog Metal virtuoso’s `Dream Theater’ (8) setting up the first elaborate stage show along with musicianship that makes most of us scratch our heads in disbelief, marching through 13 songs such as `Panic Attack’, `Constant Motion’ and `Behind The Veil’, Dream Theater certainly prove that prog metal is still alive and kicking in the 21st century.

Our headliners for tonight and Germany’s own classic rock heroes `Scorpions’ (10), who quite simply stole the night with their brand of hard rock tunes and ballads they turn Maidstone’s cool night air into one of breath taking majesty hitting it up with `Wind Of Change’ and `Rock You Like A Hurricane’ proves that the best in the business knows how to pull the heart strings as well as getting those heads bouncing. It’s fantastic to see a band that’s been in the business for 40+ years and still hitting it up strong, quite simply the perfect end to a classic night.

New festivals tend not to be around for long but with this one being backed Team Rock and co. it’s highly likely we will see the `Ramblin Man Fair’ return again especially in Maidstone’s Mote Park with its stunning grounds seems to the ideal placement for a classic rock festival to return year on year.

Live Long and Rock on Ramblin Man Fair.
